AuthorBoth Outcasts The new Football Manager comes out later this week and we are very excited to get ourselves immersed in the new game. While there are plenty of new features we are, as always, most excited about guiding our favourite teams to glory. While Liverpool and Cardiff are typically our first save games we had a think about the other clubs we were looking forward to attempting to manage. Below are just a few we are looking forward to taking over.
AuthorSports Billy It's terrifying to know that curses are real. But how do we know they are real you ask? Well, Benfica are currently under one!
AuthorJeffEyesRimmer We here a football outcasts read a lot of football websites, we love the transfer rumour mill, enjoy the snippets of gossip and information on social media, read plenty of articles on more reputable sites and watch quite a bit of football as well. This means that we quite often read about ‘big teams’ and ‘big team biases or a player has put in a transfer request to move to a ‘massive club’. So the question becomes – What defines a Big Club, what does it even mean?
AuthorJeffEyesRimmer A Plastic fan, it’s a term many of us will have heard and I'm sure numerous of you will have been called it as well. It’s a term that can often get the back up of supporters who consider themselves ‘true fans’. Well what is a plastic fan and what is a true fan? Is being plastic that bad?
AuthorSports Billy Anyone else log on to Wikipedia to read about one thing that’s been on your mind, then before you know it you're reading about something completely different? I am constantly doing it and I like to call that a "wiki-wander".
This weekend was a very wet one here in NZ and to pass the time I went on a “wiki-wander” to read up on Colombia whilst having a cuppa (mainly as I am half way through the second series of Narcos at the time of writing and was keen to learn more about its cities and history). AuthorJeffEyesRimmer The Football Outcasts team love all things football. We chat about football every day even though we live in Australia and New Zealand and despite the time difference to be able to watch European football being quite troublesome. In our friends message groups (yes we have friends!) we constantly have football related topics on the go - football pretty much dominates everything we do!
The world of football is quite often a negative one filled with corruption, sackings, injuries, relegation candidates, the shear absurdity of the money involved....the list could go on and on. However, there are certain quirks in the beautiful game that can elicit a special kind of joy - these are normally a moment that is rare, odd, or just so plain bloody brilliant that you forget about the problems of football and remember its a game and deep down its supposed to be fun. Below are just a few of those moments that bring a squeak of excitement to us whilst watching/playing football games: AuthorBoth Outcasts It’s the end to the international break - well for three weeks until some new international games and friendlies roll around - so that means that club football will be back with us very soon. However, to stick with international football theme for a little bit longer, while watching the various internationals that have been on this past week, we noted that Wayne Rooney was close to breaking the all-time most capped England player record. While Rooney has declined somewhat in recent times. He was a phenomenon earlier in his career and you don’t become your country’s top scorer and all time most capped player if you don’t deserve it, but that got us thinking about those players who we thought deserved more of a run out for their respective international teams?
AuthorJeffEyesRimmer The grubby world of football has been thrust into the spotlight again this past week after the drip fed revelations from the UK newspaper Telegraphs investigation on corruption within the English game. It really shouldn't be a surprise to any of us that this is the case. Cast your mind back and it wasn't too long ago that the presidents of FIFA and UEFA were being walked out due to their own indiscretions. Or a little further back, the sting operation in Switzerland and the FIB looking into the financial irregularities of FIFA within the US. Why should anyone think the UK be any different if the heads of the game, allegedly, enjoy the kickbacks and bribes?
AuthorSports Billy After a season of transition under Klopp last year, Liverpool have had a blistering start to this season with them currently sat in 4th spot in the Premier League, just 2 points off the top.
Due to this start of the season (and ignoring their shock loss to Burnley) many are tipping them as potential title contenders for this season, with some bookies having them as 2nd favourites behind Manchester City. Now is this backing fanciful or do the Super Reds actually stand a chance? |
