AuthorBoth Outcasts We have seen some horrible kits in our time, the grey Manchester Utd away kit immediately comes to mind, but horrible kits are not reserved for years gone by, oh no. While enjoying the first half of this 2016 campaign we have seen some right messes. These kits are in our opinion some of the worst.
AuthorBoth Outcasts As you may have seen from our twitter feed, we recently ran a poll asking opinions on whether a European Super League would be a good idea. The results that we got from the poll were interesting in that it appears that the fans of the bigger teams (or rather the sides currently doing well in the continents big leagues or European Competition) would be happy to have a European Super League set up. We are not sure how much trolling was going on there with the poll, but we thought about what would the actual benefits of a European Super League be?
AuthorJeffEyesRimmer It was a swindle so brilliant that it has gone down in Premier League folklore. Back in 1996 the Premier League was still in its infancy, Manchester United was the reigning EPL champions, Aston Villa were in Europe and Manchester City had been relegated the season before. All change now right. With the scouting networks, the internet, the technology we have for football stats, the sheer volume of football shown on TV, even Football Manager, it really is hard to imagine these days that such a con could ever happen. So what con are we referring to? Well none other than Ali Dia, the unknown footballer come EPL striker, always the number 1 worst player to play in the EPL pick and really an enigma of the game.
AuthorJeffEyesRimmer Sometimes the quirks of football really surprise you, an odd fact, stat or just a club picks your interest. That happened to me this week, while reading up on some potential football books I wanted to read. While searching the web I stumbled upon a fantastic stadium over in Brazil. This stadium is the Estádio Milton Corrêa, or more affectionately known as Zerão.

Its International football week and while that quite often brings groans from a lot of football fans we thought we would reflect back on one of the most ludicrous matches ever played. That match was between Barbados and Grenada in 1994 in the Caribbean Cup qualifiers. While some football fans may have heard this story before there are quite a few that will not have. So why was it so bizarre?
AuthorJeffEyesRimmer So our first club feature on this page was on the oldest club in the world – Sheffield FC. So the question for us was how do we follow on from the oldest club in the world? Well how about one of the youngest clubs to be formed and one that goes against the traditions of the established football pyramid?
AuthorBoth Outcasts When the Outcasts were kids we would sit in the classroom before the lesson began and talk about the best team of players that our young minds could think of. We produced team sheets and formations to try to fit in the best players and argued aplenty with our friends when they hadn't included someone who we thought was an obvious choice.
Flash forward and now in our early 30s we wondered what the best team that we could come up with now was after years of watching football. The only caveat was that we had to have watched these players play during our lifetime, so no Pele or Maradona here as they weren’t playing by the time we were growing up. Cue the arguing once again. AuthorJeffEyesRimmer The W League kicks off for its 9th iteration on November 5th, so we thought we would do a little preview of the season to come, akin to the A League one we also posted on the Outcasts page a few weeks back.
Last season was Melbourne City’s debut season and they went and won both the Minor Premiership and the Grand Final, which was quite an achievement for a clubs debut season. In fact Melbourne were top of the league from the start and didn’t lose a game all season. Unfortunately it wasn’t the same for their cross city rivals, with the Melbourne Victory coming bottom with only 2 wins in their entire season. They will be hoping for a better season overall, and both Canberra Utd and Sydney FC will be hoping to challenge Melbourne City for the title. The new season has a lot to live up to. Below we preview all 9 teams involved in this year’s competition: |
