AuthorJeffEyesRimmer The player farm method is one that I have used on every game of football manager game ever and I have often wondered if sides actually did what I and many of us do on the computer game.
That tactic is the development or buying cheap of young football talent that one day will either be good enough to make the first team or be sold for (hopefully) a huge profit if they fail to make the grade for your team. Seems straight forward enough right? AuthorJeffEyesRimmer Growing up with football over the past 20 to 30 years football fans have had to accept the relentless commercialisation of football, where we have become consumers to the powers that be rather than actual fans.
So it is with great joy that finally some common sense has prevailed in football. As of next season the English Premier League Transfer window will shut before the first game of the season. Thankfully, finally, someone has made a good decision. We here at Football Outcasts often lament some of the rule changes that go on in football and often rant about how there are so many more issues in football to address rather than for instance the order in which a penalty shootout is taken. So we will applaud the decision makers this time, credit where credit is due. AuthorRachael Warham Rachael is back with an article on her beloved Arsenal and to say she wasnt impressed with Friday night performance is an understatement. Take is away Rachael:
AuthorJeffEyesRimmer At last the football season kicked off earlier this week with the Football League starting. It’s been a long close season in my opinion.
Last season saw Chelsea crowned champions and deservedly so. Sunderland were finally relegated after flirting with it for so long, along with Hull City and Middlesbrough. Harry Kane won the golden boot for the second season in a row: can he improve on his 29 goals from last season? So with the start of the EPL this Friday night how are the teams shaping up for the coming season? AuthorsFootball Outcasts, Englandfootball, Football Blogging, Sporting Mad, blogfootballmy The new English Premier League season is only a few days away and like us probably you can’t wait for it to get started.
While we are looking forward to many things over the course of this season - like Rooney’s return to Everton, the relegation scrap and whether Stoke can claim back their rightful position of 9th from the usurpers Bournemouth, the Top Four is the main talking point. So below are our predictions on who we think will make the Top Four this season. However, we here at Football Outcasts HQ couldnt make that call alone, so we thought we would ask around and gather some more opinions from our fellow football enthusiasts in the community as well. To kick things off we will start with my fellow Outcast but then over to our fellow bloggers for their thoughts on the EPL Top Four: AuthorJeffEyesRimmer Yes we won an award!
Before going into our blog and the award I would like to take the time to talk about the great blogger that selected us for the Blogger Recognition Award in the first place - Stylishmaze, a fashion, photography and, my particular favourite, architecture blog. Stylishmaze started her blog originally on Instagram and progressed to writing on other social media platforms before founding stylishmaze.com. Her website is very stylish and there is a tonne of great content to view and after chatting with each other on emails I am looking forward to more architecture topics in the future. Thank you to Stylishmaze for selecting us for the award and please go check out her page at https://stylishmaze.com/ So over the Blogger Recognition Award – yes I can’t believe we were selected for an award either. The award itself is an online award that is offered by bloggers to their fellow bloggers and it’s great to be given a level of recognition from the community. This award has come at a great time for us too, with our 1 year anniversary almost upon us and also with me going away for 2x months, it really makes me look forward to coming back writing again. AuthorMichael Wallace We have our second guest writer this week, with Michael Wallace providing his take on Manchester United’s squad. Michael originally posted his piece over at our mate’s Facebook page. Many of you guys who read our blog often know we are mates with the lads over at Sporting Mad, who run a weekly podcast show and we encourage you guys to go check them out.
Michael is a lifelong Man Utd fan from Belfast and this is his take on how Manchester United are shaping up for the coming season. Over to you Michael. AuthorJeffEyesRimmer Quite amazingly it looks like the transfer saga of the summer is actually happening. It was confirmed this morning by Barcelona that Neymar has requested a transfer through to PSG.
They have indicated that PSG would have to pay the whopping £198million buyout clause in Neymar’s contract to do it and in full. Let’s put aside the absurdity of all this and how completely out of touch football seems to be with the rest of the world and consider the potential reinvestment opportunities for Barcelona should they receive that massive influx of cash. Who would be suitable replacements for Neymar at Barcelona? AuthorBoth Outcasts
Both of us here at Football Outcasts HQ grew up with the English Premier League. I was 8 years old when it started and just starting to get into football when the EPL first kicked off in 1992; I still remember my first Panini sticker album that I never did finish (I actually only ever managed to finish one – the 1995 to 1996 season).
Why the nostalgia? Well the English Premier League has turned 25 years old and as the league hits the quarter of a century milestone we thought we would look back at our favourite moments (plenty of highlight videos for you to remember too). While other, more reputable websites, look at the various big moments over those 25 years we thought we would look at those moments that we enjoyed – this is a more personal list. |
