AuthorJeffEyesRimmer The waiting is finally over and the 2018 World Cup has begun. It has started with a bang too, Russia running out 5 – 0 victor’s over a rather lacklustre Saudi Arabia.
There are a total of 736 players who could feature at the World Cup and we are in an era now when real unknown players are hard to come by. The internet, most leagues being televised globally and even Football Manager means that not many players slip under the radar. However, there are few players that could have a breakout tournament and make a name for themselves. Here are a few youngsters at the World Cup to keep an eye out for. AuthorVarious The World Cup is not too far away now and so we thought we would write a little piece on our thoughts. However, the World Cup is one of the biggest events in the world and so we couldn’t tackle this beast alone.
So we asked several other bloggers on their thoughts for the World Cup and we specifically asked these questions:
First up we start with my fellow Outcast Joe: AuthorMichael Wallace At the beginning of the 2017-2018 season Michael looked at the United team and provided his thoughts on the first team.
You can read that article here Well Michael is back to review the team and provide thoughts on what might happen for next season. Over to you Michael AuthorJeffEyesRimmer While much of our attention is now focused on the big event this summer in Russia there is another World Cup about to start in London on the 31st May – The CONIFA World Cup.
CONIFA stands for the Confederation of Independent Football Associations and are for states, minorities, stateless peoples and regions unaffiliated with FIFA. That’s putting it politely; they are in reality not recognised by FIFA. AuthorJeffEyesRimmer The World Cup is looming and only a few weeks away now.
The national squads are being finalised, with the majority of sides now having announced their 23-man squads. With these squads there was always going to be some players that missed out and this World Cup will see some big name players not plying their trade in Russia. Here are some of the big names that will not be at the World Cup this time out: AuthorJeffEyesRimmer We wrote an article about the E-League back before it kicked off in February 2018 (here).
In that article we indicated that we thought that it would only be a matter of time before the computer game form of the game became mainstream and we asked a key question: Would the E-League be a success? Well was it a success? AuthorJeffEyesRimmer They once mixed it with European elite, but have suffered liquidation, limped back from the grave, fought their way back up through the leagues and now sit second in the Scottish Premier League.
Rangers are a club trying desperately to reclaim its former heights, could they reclaim top spot in Scotland once again? AuthorJeffEyesRimmer Football is a crazy circus, I think most of us realise this and just allow it to continue, watching the spectacular, the crazy and the clowns bumbling when it occurs.
But there's one aspect to football that is illogical. It's the fans passion for their football team, it's ingrained in you, and you can't help but care about your football club. So for me as a Cardiff fan I find it bemusing when I see other fans of more successful sides jumping on bandwagons, hyperbole bandwagons at that and especially negative ones. AuthorJeffEyesRimmer Well we are unfortunately coming to the end of the season (in most leagues) and thoughts of the chairmen, managers, players and fans inevitably turn to what could be in store for next season.
The big name transfers will grab the headlines and players and their agents will bat their eye lashes at the cashed up clubs looking for a big pay day, especially with the World Cup in the summer. However, not all clubs can go and spend $60 million on a new player (I cant believe I wrote $60million!) So who are the potential best free agents available at the end of year that could add that extra spark to your team? AuthorJay Hiza We all know the story by now – PSG wanted Neymar, Neymar wanted to step out of Messi’s shadow, PSG ponied up €222 million in order to poach the Brazilian from Barcelona and bring him to Paris. Barca – in turn – spending combined €280 million to bring in Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele, the latter being viewed as a direct replacement for the departed Neymar. That’s it, end of story, right? Well, not quite.
