Author JimEyesRimmer The transfer window has slammed shut and there were some last, edge of your seat moments on deadline day. Player power plays didnt come off, some lovely bits of buisness from the likes of Swansea and West Brom and Arsenal showed they have no transfer policy whatsoever. There were some standout signings this transfer window though and below are a few that we think that are worth a mention: Renato Sanches (Munich to Swansea)
Although this is just a loan its a big statement from Swansea to sign one of the world games most sought after wonderkids. Sanches was potentially going to numerous clubs including Juventus, A.C. Milan and Manchester United before it all went quiet. Swansea needed to replace Gylfi Sigurdsson and they have done so in spades with Sanches. Grzegorz Krychowiak (PSG to West Brom) Another loan but one that could turn into the signing of the summer. Krychowiak was Sevilla's player of the season in 2014 and was underused in a PSG team brimming with talent. Tony Pulls has come up trumps with his signings this summer, with Hegazi, Barry and now Krychowiak. It will be interesting to see if West Brom can play to Krychowiak obvious talents. If they can then that 40 point glass ceiling that they so often impose of themselves could be broken and really they should be aiming for Europa. Danny Drinkwater (Leicester to Chelsea) Ok so I wasn't so sure of this signing at all but then Joe reminded me that Drinkwater played his best next to the phenomenon that is Kante. Drinkwater replaces Matic and playing with Kante could rekindle the form that saw them win the EPL with Leicester and get a call up to the England team. So fair dos, it's a good signing. Nemanja Matic (Chelsea to Man United) If Dinkwater was a good signing for £35million for Chelsea then the signing of Matic for £40million is a daylight robbery, a brilliant buy. Matic really adds stability to the United midfield and was a key player identifed by Jose for the team. It's silly in a way to think spending £40million could be the signing of the season but he really is Uniteds key player for the coming season. He allows United's abundance of attacking talent to flourish. This transfer was done a while ago but based on their rivals still having obvious deficiencies in their squads this is a top signing. Kevin Wimmer (Spurs to Stoke) I rate Wimmer very highly, and the 24 year old Austrian international adds quality to the defence of Stoke that looked a little lacking in depth at the beginning of the window. I'm actually suprised Spurs let him leave really but the lads clearly wants to play first team football especially with the World Cup looming and Austria in contention to qualify.
