Back in January we looked at the various players that could sign for each EPL club and then later reviewed those decisions (those articles are linked below). However, of all the transfers that happened over the January transfer window which transfers are the ones that have been a success.
Below are our picks for players that have made a fist of their moves (at the time of writing).
Memphis Depay
Not given too much of chance to impress at United, good hats and off field distractions tarnished the young player’s reputation and he was sent on his way to Lyon. Depay has quickly shown what he is capable of when given the chance, 5 goals and 2 assists in 7 games, along with an average of 3.2 key passes is a pretty great return. Also that wonder goal from the half way line was lovely, Ive included the link below.
Morgan Schneiderlin
Another player not really given much of chance under Mourinho and now Everton are reaping the rewards. Given a total of 11 minutes in Manchester, that’s quickly changed on Merseyside, with Morgan Schneiderlin already making 7 appearances. An average of 2.2 interceptions per game and a passing accuracy of 90% shows how crucial a player he now is. Mamadou Sakho A career that was very much on hiatus at Liverpool, the final day loan move to Crystal Palace appears to be a masterstroke by Big Sam. Making three appearances so far with an average of 8 clearances per game, the Frenchman looks to be the key to keeping Palace in the EPL. Defences keep you in the EPL after all. Gerard Deulofeu Deulofeo seemed to have stagnated at Everton, the promising winger appeared to have lost his was and the trust of manager Ronald Koeman. AC Milan took a chance on Deulofeu and brough him in on loan. So far he has made 8 appearances for Rossoneri and hes chipped in with 1 goal and 3 assists, his passing accuracy is above 80% and crucially he is making 2 key passes a game. This kind of form has resulted in Barcelona looking to sign him for $10 million in the summer. Oumar Niasse Very much a running joke when he was a Everton and many, including myself, questions Hulls sense in bringing in a player that hadn’t played in months for a relegation fight. Niasse has answered his critics and has shown he can indeed play football. A total of 4 goals in 4 appearances is the kind of form that can keep a struggling club up. There are plenty of instances of this, Niasse might be a name added to top ten lists. Manolo Gabbiadini Oh what might have been if Southampton has signed him in the summer? The big Italian cost a fair some when moving from Napoli but 4 goals in 4 appearances in the EPL and 2 goals in the League Cup prove he was worth the money. Hopefully the 25 year old can be as big a success as the last Italian the Saints had upfront. Robbie Brady Burnley’s most expensive player ever when he moved for £13millon, the 25 year old adds a creative outlet to Sean Dyches team that they really didn’t have before. He has played predominantly as a left back from former club Norwich but has moved into a more attacking position for Burnley and has results in 1 goal and 1 assist in his 3 appearances so far. His dead ball and free kick taking could mean a top 10 finish for Burnley. Julian Draxler Forever linked with a move to Arsenal but those rumours were finally put to bed when Draxler moved to PSG. The competition in the midfield for PSG is fierce but Draxler has excelled and made 8 appearances so far. Those appearances have yielded 3 goals and I can see him becoming a big player for them. Who else do you think has done well since their January move? |
