AuthorJeffEyesRimmer This is it, the cusp of the season is about to begin. Pre-season is over and the managers have selected their first team squads for the first game of the season – Gameweek 1 is upon us. We have over 30 managers, new and old heads, all aiming for the top spot and the glory of being crowned Champions of the second Football Outcasts League! So how are the teams shaping up for the coming season, below is our preview of the teams to look out for: The inaugural Champions of the first Football Outcasts League, 3Ks are back and manager Sanji Gramian will be looking to dominate the division once again. Last season saw the 3Ks smash all before them and take out the title in comfortable fashion. Based on last season’s performance you wouldn’t bet against them.
Looking to knock the current champions off the top spot are some big time managers and teams that have entered the competition from the now defunct Sporting Mad League. The league had to drop their licensing due to the ongoing cost of suppling premier league shirts to the winners. Thankfully the Football Outcasts have taken up the license but the only thing the teams will be playing for is the glory and pride of winning the league. Speaking of big time managers and teams the Storm Riders have entered the league, after winning the previous two iterations of the Sporting Mad League they are likely the prime team to challenge this season. Can they knock off the current Champions? Their manager Mr Gleeson gave us a statement ‘Can anyone beat the two-time, back-to-back, 2016 and 2017 champion? No need for anyone to answer, it was a rhetorical question.’ Massive statements straight off the bat from the manager and we look forward to seeing how they do. A couple of other teams that have been thereabouts over the past few seasons have be Thunder FC, with manager Richards looking to improve on past performances. Wanyama Believe It, Klavan a laugh and Gazza's Fishing Rod are all sides in with a chance of taking out the title as well and so should be watched out for. Some new managers have also jumped into the hot seat of football management; Tomica's Titans have an experienced manager at the helm with England football blogger Mr Fearby hoping to guide his side up the league. The Lords of Asgard will be hoping to live up to their name and lord it over the rest of the league. Watch out for newcomers Watch Snatchers and Dirty Old Kodjia's as they could cause some shocks. However, we do have one big name manager I have yet to mention – Chris Coleman and the Wales National Team have joined the league. Mr Coleman will be hoping to do better than his previous club managerial position with Coventry where he was sacked with a 29% win ratio (we wont count his year with Greek side Larissa). So we have pro in the league, lets see how he does in the fantasy realm rather than reality. With so many teams in this year’s league it’s hard to pick out more challengers but there are sure to be several we have missed in this short preview. Several teams that will most likely be bringing up the fodder and clashing at the foot of the table are the likes of Angry Dragons, Optics United and Blackenbrecher. It will be unsurprising to see these sides in the relegation scrap this season, their managers are lucky to have survived this long in the job. ---------------------------------------- Good luck to all the managers playing this season, hope you enjoyed this little narrative rundown and hoping will have more like this each week as we go through the season. I’m away for the first couple of months of the season but that could be a good way of the league shaping up to gives it us a bit of narrative. We will discuss the league in future on Podcasts as well and that will be more about how people are tracking rather than a story as such. Happy to receive feedback too guys, let me know what you think on the emails/FB pages.
