AuthorJeffEyesRimmer We have finished Gameweek 9 and the contenders for the league are really making themselves known now. A pretty decent average points week, with 50 points being the average haul. A bit more obscure players like Murray, Richarlison and Stanislas being good players to have in the squad this week along with established players like Aguerro, Kane and Otamendi. So how the league positioned after Gameweek 8? Florence the Eagle and manager Affleck have stayed at the top for a third week in a row and have extended their lead at the top to 22 points, again not a lot in this league but they are certainly keeping up with their early season form and at this early stage look like the team to beat. Koom Kulx Klan and manager Mani P have also stayed in second with a massive round of 79 points. This was by far the biggest round from any team and that is thanks to a big round from Kane and Otamendi. A couple of new entries into the top 5 this week too, with Matthew 22:37 and manager Agyei storming up to third with a big round of 65 points and breaking that 500 point barrier. Speaking of storms – Storm Riders and former championship winner Brian Gleeson has moved up into 4th. We have said before but manager Gleeson has been playing the long game and while starting off slowly has clawed his way up the league. The teams above are going to have to watch their backs. Bacuna Nakata dropped into 5th this week but they have also broken that 500 point barrier and manager Ware can thank his defender Mawson for the added points, the player scoring a good goal to help his manager stay in the top 5. Farcelona and manager Hale said this week on Twitter that ‘I’m actually doing alright for once! It won’t last’. Well not only did it last another week but the team have moved up to 6th in the league. The reverse psychology seems to have had the desired effect. One team that had an awful week with a point’s haul of only 27 was All Blacks United who have dropped out of the top 10. The early season form has dwindled somewhat but this week’s poor points return can probably be chalked up to New Zealand’s defeat in the rugby to Australia. Football was probably the last thing on their minds and we expect a return to form next week. It’s all very congested in the middle of the table with only 30 points separating Matt Young’s side – Dirty Old Kodjias in 10th with David Becks Watch Snatchers in 20th. Plenty to play for at this early stage. No real change at the bottom with the bottom two still the same. The cloud over Coleman’s side has not dissipated with them only getting 20 points, they aren’t even trying anymore. However, Xcellento FC are trying and managed an above average points haul of 53 and thus gaining back some ground on Klavan a Laugh and Mayor Team. It’s not good news for SMchelsea and manager Saleem as they have dropped several places and have only just broken the 400 point barrier. Counter to that though have been the form of Gazza’s Fishing Rod, with manager Alan Long putting together a strong run of points hauls to rise from last place back in Gameweek 3 up to 33rd this week. Sometimes sacking a manager is not the right decision and the club were right to keep hold of manager Long and this has provided an upturn in results. ----------
