It’s been a crazy Christmas and New Year from Gameweek 19 through to 22. With the games coming thick and fast it was impossible to provide updates, no wonder there are calls for a winter break.
There have some been some magic performances over the Christmas break, Harry Kane reminded us all of his brilliance with back to back hat tricks, one Jack Wilshere has shown form that might get him on the plane this year to Russia and Mo Salah continues to dominate.
We have lost a big player out of the league this past week in Coutinho, with the player making the move to Spain. That sees plenty of managers now having a bit of cash to spend on a new player.
After four Gameweeks our leaders Florence the Eagle and Mark Affleck are now clinging onto top spot by their talons. Brian Gleeson and the Storm Riders have cut the lead from 38 points at the start of the festive season to now just 3 points. The Storm Riders recorded the largest points total in December, with 466 points being earned. A huge month! We may see a new leader come the end of the next Gameweek. The Storm Riders are showing teams how to actually chase down a points total. Not to be outdone, Mani P and Koom have kept their spot in third and also maintained the pressure, with them now also within only 95 points of top spot.
A team that has been quietly going about their business and recorded the second highest points haul during the December were Danger here with manager Shane Tighe. That’s seen them surge up the table into 5th position and now are breathing down the necks of Verma FC who, after a little wobble, have returned to form and stayed in 4th position.
One team that hasn’t stayed in touch is Farcelona, with them dropping away from the top 5 over the break. They will now be looking over their shoulder to both Optics United and Matthew 22:37 who are now very much on their tails. The battle over bragging rights at Football Outcasts HQ is very much on. A special mention has to go out to Thunder FC as well, what a turnaround from a few months ago. They were languishing down near the bottom of the league not so long ago but after recording the third best points haul during December (437) they have risen into the top ten. Amazing work from manager Paul Richards. Current Champions 3Ks moved back up to 17th and shows theres still life in the old dog yet, they are likely out of the tittle race now but who knows. There are few teams in the middle of the table that could have problems coming into the last part of the season though. Real United FC and Angry Dragons are both in downward spirals and after talking them it seems we have jinxed them with the commentators curse as Tauway Bears are dropping too. Those teams managers need to pick up points quickly.
Down at the bottom Bill Ballerz still prop up the table, with Mayor and Cambridge Skulls making up the bottom three. A big month from Xcellento FC saw them leapfrog six sides up to 38th but have their upward trajectory has stopped for now.
