Another combination this week and it is due to those pesky midweek games again. It really does mess up the schedule.
Gameweek 17 and 18 saw Coutinho continue his recent good form with him picking up good points hauls. Huddersfield again had several players get into the team of the week (Gameweek 18), with Mooy and Depoitre returning double figure point hauls. West Ham also continued to improve with Lanzini bringing in the highest points total (15 points), although he will now be suspended for a while after that awful dive.
The average points haul was a very respectable 52 points in Gameweek 18, tough one to meet that, with our league leader not even reaching that magic number.
Our leaders Florence the Eagle and Mark Affleck, along with Brian Gleeson and the Storm Riders in second are both into the 1000 point territory now. The big news here is that the Storm Riders have reigned in the league leaders quite a bit over the past few weeks. This has been based on a tremendous December so far for them, with the Storm Riders bringing in 234 points this month (so far). They are now only 38 points behind Florence, is the Eagle faltering? Not to be dismissed we also have Koom and Farcelona in third and fourth respectively who are both sticking in the title race. Both these sides have above 980 points and have realistic hopes of the title as well. This title race is getting interesting!
Verma FC has shown that their dip in form was only temporary and has pushed back up into fifth. Two Gameweeks in a row they have had points hauls about 50 points which has propelled them up the table. Wanyama Believe It and manager Stuart Thurlow have also had good recent weeks to get them back into the top 10 too.
We said last week that a team to watch would be Tauway Bears, with manager Wayne Smith and they haven’t disappointed. They have been clawing themselves up the table and are now into 19th. However, we overlooked another team that has been exceeding expectations recently – Watch Snatchers and manager David Beck have recorded the second best total points haul over December. They are in fact very close to the Storm riders over this past month, recording 228 points, only 6 behind. This has pushed the Watch Snatchers up into 17th and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them climb into the top 10 over the coming weeks if that form keeps up. Speaking with manager Beck this past week he outlined his strategy and it seems that the chopping and changing isn’t for him ‘I rarely do transfers, ill probably only make 10 or so a season’. Well it seems to be working this month.
Xcellento FC has continued their upward climb and this has been based on them having the third best point’s haul of December (225!). They are very much a team in form and have pushed up the table, from looking down and out in October to now putting five teams between themselves and bottom. Top coaching from manager Sannie Xcellento.
Mayor is now bottom having dropped like a stone, it’s not looking good for them. In scouting news the top players that are coming in are: 1. Sterling 2. De Bruyne 3. Rooney 4. Otamendi 5. Firmino Those that have lost favour with their managers this week are: 1. David Silva (injured) 2. Doucoure (injured) 3. Ward (injured) 4. Vardy (Lacking confidence?) 5. Kolasinac (Odd one this?) It shows there’s plenty of life in the old dog yet, Wayne Rooney has been doing well at Everton and his performances over the past few weeks have prompted plenty of managers to bring him into their squads. Here are a few players to watch curtsey of FML Tips:
