Well Gameweek 14 snuck up so fast it had been and gone before I had a chance to check my team! I get thoroughly confused by English Premier League being played in the midweek; it should be for European football and Football League only!
But we had a full set of fixtures the past few days and there was some stand out performances this week. Mo Salah came off the bench to smash in a brace, much too many a manager’s delight. Wayne Rooney showed that class is permanent and form is temporary and Sterling continued his excellent goal scoring form.
The average points haul this week was only 42 so how did this bonus mid-week Gameweek help or hinder the teams involved?
As always Florence and Mark Affleck lead the league, putting in an above average performance of 54 points, Salah, Moreno (what?!) and Harry Kane putting in the key performances to extend their lead at the top to 66 points. Despite the challenge laid down by Brian Gleeson and the Storm Riders Florence the Eagle as soared. They now have their biggest lead to date, can anyone catch them? The Storm Riders stay in second and it seems one of our own might be taking up the challenge. Farcelona and my fellow Football Outcast Joe Hale are up to third! Unbelievable really based on past performances. Shows what can be achieved with a little effort and persistence. This means that from 4th through to 7th have all dropped down a place and to make the top ten even more interesting we have three new teams taking up 8th-10th. A familiar face in All Blacks United has returned to form and show that class is permanent form in temporary. A new team into the top ten, David Gents 2 more farts are breezed up the table and Da Blues FC are back as well.
Plenty of movement in the middle of the table as well, with Gunners Down Under and SMChelsea both rising in the rankings.
The bottom three is the same as last week and we now know what the tactics are for team Blackenbrecher. Manager Blackwell indicated this week that he has picked his team from the start of the season and wont be transferring in or out any players. A bold move and a tactic that might not be working very well, with them in 39th position.
In scouting news the top players that are top coming in are:
1. Sterling 2. Salah 3. Young 4. Vardy 5. Morata Those that have lost favour with their managers this week are: 1. Sane (injured) 2. Lukaku (playing against a big team this week – so out you go sunshine) 3. David Silva (better returns from other Man City players, sorry you lovely Spaniard) 4. Eriksen (not providing the returns but then no Spurs players are!) 5. Davies (not playing?) It seems plenty of managers are keen to jump on the Sterling bandwagon and have brought in the most inform English player at the moment into their squads. Salah is dominating the league at the moment (he has a better return that Suarez did back in the day) and having gone two years without scoring Ashley Young has gone and scored 3x in a couple of weeks. Heres a quick update from the Scouting team for you as well:
Thankfully no mid-week games after Gameweek 15 so we can relax a bit.
Thanks all Tom
